When planning the Sgt. Diaz Memorial Forest planting day, we knew that Cuban coffee had to be part of the morning. At Sgt. Diazâs celebration of life and in countless tributes from colleagues, one detail came up again and again â how he enthusiastically shared his homemade Cuban coffee with everyone around him. It felt only right to honor that memory with a cafecito toast before planting began.
When we approached The Cuban Flavor about providing authentic Cuban coffee for the event, they immediately said, âYes!â â and then went a step further. They asked whether the Diaz family and Charlotte County Sheriffâs Office officers might also like some food to go with it. As it turns out, planting a forest does build an appetite. The food was delicious, appreciated, and completely gone by the end of the morning.
Today, we offer a big, heartfelt thank you to The Cuban Flavor for helping celebrate Sgt. Diaz in such a personal and meaningful way. Their generosity added warmth, comfort, and a touch of home to a day full of emotion.
If youâd like to show them some love in return, swing by their restaurant at 23046 Harbor View Rd, Port Charlotte, FL 33980. â€ïž
